One of the things that makes working at Disney so incredible is that I get a chance to take my time at the parks whenever I go. And I go quite often. Whether it's by myself or with friends and family, I just enjoy hanging out at the parks. I enjoy wondering what Walt Disney would think, strolling through his deam, watching all his Guests having a magical time.
I have been called, by friends and family alike, a "cruise director" more than once in my life. I figure it must be my natural inclination, to arrange things: outings, dinners, parties, road trips. I really love doing this for friends and family who haven't been to the parks in a while, if ever. When Paula, John and Chase were down for a visit, I had a blast introducing them to things "off the beaten path," if you will. Or even just sharing what, in my opinion, were some choice offerings at the parks.
I was at Disney's Hollywood Studios on Saturday, working a shift, helping with a wait time study of quick-service restaurants. It was really cool to take part in this and to interact with Guests at the park. I happened to be stationed at Starring Rolls Cafe, which is a coffee/bakery/sandwich shop. About 5 hours into my shift, I was craving some coffee, so I ordered an iced coffee with vanilla syrup and cream.
"Wow, this is some of the best iced coffee I've ever had!" I thought. "I need to let people know about this place, so they can try it."
And that was how my new blog idea got started. I've created a new category called IMO (*in my opinion), and whenever I come across something at the parks I particularly recommend, I'm going to post it.
So, the next time you're at Disney's Hollywood Studios, hit Starring Rolls Cafe, to the right and around the corner from the Brown Derby. Try their iced coffee. It's awesome!
