One of the awesome opportunities I have as a cast member for Disney is getting involved with extracurricular activities. One such took place between last week and this week: Canoe Races Of the World (C.R.O.W.).
My team (above, from left to right: Jorge, Aaron, Kevin, Anson, Kibby, Garrett, Kris, Liza, Sarah, me) was BRILLIANT, and we had a lot of fun. Here's the scoop.
- You get up at the crack of dawn and haul your butt to the Magic Kingdom Cast parking area, where you catch a bus to the tunnels below the park.
- You walk through the tunnels to the stairs to Frontierland, and climb up into the park.
- You marvel at being IN DISNEY WORLD before all the Guests arrive. The sun rises over Cinderella's Castle, and it is truly magical.
- You and your team climb into one of the big old heavy canoes they used to use for Guests to row around Tom Sawyer Island.
- You row around Tom Sawyer Island, and get timed.
Yeah... It was way fun! We had two mornings last week for practice, and one morning this week for a qualifying run. Alas, we didn't qualify for the finals, but we didn't maroon ourselves either. Which is a win for us rookies.
I'm ready for C.R.O.W. next year... Paddles UP!
OMG that sounds like SO MUCH FUN!
