Um, yeah. I thought I wouldn't have to worry about baby-proofing until Rowan was crawling. What I didn't know was that babies ROLL. As you can see, Rowan no longer stays in one spot to play. The entire room is game.
Enter Mommy's New Best Friend: the play pen. I chose this Graco Pack 'N Play TotBloc playard. It's bigger than your usual playard and I thought the bright colors and built-in toys would be great fir Rowan.
I put her in it for the first time today. I think she likes it!
When I was pregnant, I knew I would love my child. I didn't know I would be IN LOVE with my child. Every day I spend with her I grow deeper and deeper in love. She is a marvel to me, this little human being who is completely her own person.
She's now 5 months old and developing fast. This weekend we removed the infant inserts from her car seat and stroller. She can roll over from her front to her back, sit up with minimal support, and hold up her own bottle. She's very observant; everyone says she looks like she's got deep thoughts going on behind those eyes. She has an amazing sense of humor already, and has started to giggle at things she finds funny... Mostly at Mommy singing funny songs and dancing! And she is so cuddly. She loves to snuggle and just be close to people. I have a feeling she's going to be a real people person.
I am Rowan's biggest fan, and I don't miss an opportunity to tell her how grateful I am to be her Mommy, and how much I utterly, truly, really love her.
I spent a lovely day with Rowan and good friends at Magic Kingdom today. And Rowan has now ridden one of my all-time favorite rides, the People Mover, TWICE.

My beautiful daughter is 5 months old today. I can't believe how fast time is going. She's a very happy, healthy girl, and she's got a sassy sense of humor. I thank my luck stars every day for this special little soul. I can't believe how blessed I am!
Rowan is a very active little girl. And smart! My challenge is keeping her occupied so she doesn't get bored, but not pushing too much stuff on her.
Here she is enjoying her tummy time mat, which has a "piano" she can kick to play. One of the best toys I've invested in so far!
When I first brought Rowan home, she was so little I was afraid to put her in the crib. It was just way too big for such a tiny baby. Then, when we found out she had acid reflux, we found she slept better in the Nap Nanny, which let her sleep semi upright, which helped her digestion.
Now that Rowan is getting bigger, I'm getting her used to sleeping in the crib. She's not so little any more!
I pureed some cooked sweet potatoes for Rowan, and she, um, kinda liked 'em! She was not quite sure what to do with them at first (as expected), but as I showed her that I was eating them, she would open her mouth and I'd sneak the spoon in.
Grammie took these awesome pictures, although I'm not sure how she managed it since she was doubled over with laughter and hardly breathing at times! LOL! Too fun!
All in all, it was a successful first attempt. More food adventures to come, with hopefully plenty of pictures to go along with them!
Rowan is big enough and strong enough to just about sit up on her own in the bath. This makes bath time infinitely more fun as she learns to splash around and enjoy being in the water. It makes for a soggy experience for Mommy, but it's so worth it.

Grammie missed Rowan SO much! She was waiting for us on the curb when we drove up to the apartment.
